John Oakland is one of the world’s top 10 gurus in quality & operational excellence; Executive Chairman, Oakland Consulting; Emeritus Professor of Quality & Business Excellence at Leeds University Business School , a Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and a Member of American Society for Quality.
John started his career in the chemical industry and then moved into major European Business Schools – researching and working with corporates internationally, including Exxon, BP, Shell, Ford, Prudential, Unilever and the BBC – later founding Oakland Consulting to help leaders embed quality strategies and cultures into their organisations.
He has a particular skill in bridging the gap between boardrooms, academic research findings and operational practice.
John recently chaired the CQI’s Professional Policy Panel to improve how the quality profession meets the needs of its clients in the 21st century and created a strategy for the profession to become key players in the boardroom and across business.
A best-selling author, John has written hundreds of books, articles, papers and reports.
John’s latest project is setting up The Oakland Institute for Business Research and Education to create a centre for academic research addressing today’s strategic and operational issues.
